Buttock Augmentation Recovery Time
Buttock augmentation surgery usually lasts two to three hours. The time necessary to complete this surgery depends on the technique used, the placement of the implants, the anatomy of the patient and the type of anesthesia used. Most buttock augmentation surgery is performed as an out-patient procedure, and many patients go home within hours of their procedure.
Buttock augmentation can be somewhat painful because of the stretching involved of the tissues. The pain improves with each passing hour and is relieved by pain medication prescribed by Dr. Hendricks.
A compression garment is worn after surgery to provide support and a companion is needed to drive you home and help pamper you for a day or two after your procedure. It is also important to rest after your surgery to speed the healing process. Drinking adequate fluids, taking your prescribed medications and following Dr. Hendricks' instructions will also assist you in your recovery.
Your stitches will be removed within one week to ten days, and swelling will continue to subside over several weeks. You can normally resume your exercise routine and regular physical activities a month or two after your surgery. Of course, recovery times vary from patient to patient. Intense physical exertion should be avoided for several weeks, but you may be able to return to work in several days providing your job does not entail strenuous physical activity.
